Very few treks in Nepal bring you so close to the 8,000+ m ice-giant in such a period as the ABC trek. The ABC trail follows the terraced rice paddies, verdant rhododendron forests, and alpine landscapes with a view of the Annapurna range most of the time.
Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130m is a spectacular glacial plain nestled beneath the rings of the peak – Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South (7,219m), Machhapuchhre (6,993m) and Hiunchuli (6,441m). The ABC trek commences at Nayapul: a 1.5-hour drive north of Lake City, Pokhara, and continues up to Ghorepani and vantage viewpoint, Poon Hill. From Ghorepani, we follow the eastward trail to Chomrong and head north, entering the Modi Khola valley, which finally takes us to the Base Camp.
The return trail requires three nights, one at a hot spring in Jhinu Danda. Then, a short downhill trek leads us to Nayapul, and a 1 ½ hour drive takes us to the hotel, relaxing afternoon in Pokhara. The next day, drive back to Kathmandu through stunning middle hill agriculture and forestry lands along the gushing Trishuli River.
Namaste! We will welcome you at the international airport and transfer you to our hotel upon arrival. We will take you to an authentic Nepali dinner once you’re settled (relaxed and freshened up). At the dining table, we can get to know each other better while enjoying tasty food and setting clear expectations for each other regarding the rest of our days. This will also give you a more in-depth understanding of the upcoming trek.

We will stop by Machhapuchhre Base Camp, where you can capture the best view of the stunning Machhapuchhre, together with other mountains like Annapurna South, Annapurna I and III, and Gangapurna. There is little difference between the Annapurna base camp trek and the Everest base camp trek. Both are the best options for trekkers to visit. Everest Base Camp is known for its world-highest mountain, and Annapurna is the 10th highest mountain. Annapurna is known for its diverse landscapes, such as lush green forests, terraced fields, and picturesque villages. Everest is famous for its rugged terrain, glaciers, high-altitude passes, and iconic Sherpa villages. You can also see the influence of Tibet in this region. On the way to Annapurna, you will see the incredible views of Annapurna massifs.
On the other hand, you will see stunning views of Mount Everest and other mountains like Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam on the way to Everest. If you want to compare with the height, you will notice a vast difference between them. Annapurna base camp is located at a height of 4,130 meters (13,550 feet), and Everest base camp at 5,364 meters (17,598 feet). Annapurna is considered moderate for trekking, but for Everest, it's difficult as its heights make a difference.
The best times to trek to the Annapurna base camp are October-November and April-May because, at that time, the sky becomes apparent, and the views of the Annapurna range can be seen easily. The weather becomes dry, and the temperature does not rise, so it is not cold.
The difficulty of trekking to Annapurna base camp is moderate. With the help of a guide, both beginners and experienced trekkers can easily reach Annapurna. The elevation is low, so it's accessible for trekkers.
Yes, generally, trekking to Annapurna is considered safe because you will see that trekking in Annapurna is moderate, and the travel agency takes an easy route for trekkers. At every point in Annapurna, there are police who take care of the trekkers. And if something happens by chance, then the rescue team takes action very fast for the trekkers.
Yes, you can customize your trekking itinerary according to your requirements. We offer full customization for our trekkers so that they feel comfortable and confident trekking in the Annapurna.
