Permits required for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

Chinese Visa and Tibet Travel Permit

Chinese visas and Tibet travel permits are the mandatory permits required for all the international travelers to do the Kailash Yatra. A Tibet travel permit is issued by the Chinese government. A Chinese visa can be obtained from the embassy.

Alien Travel Permit

Best time to visit Kailash Mansarovar

The best time to visit Kailash Mansarovar is from May to September, when the renowned Saga Dawa Festival is held. Arrival In Kathmandu Valley

Welcome to Nepal's capital city, Kathmandu. We will be waiting for you at Tribhuvan International Airport's arrival gates. At the airport, you will receive a Nepali SIM card after completing the immigration process. After that, we will drive to our hotel. You can check-in and relax for a day. If you want, you can enjoy a walk around the Thamel area, and in the evening we will go for a Nepali dinner and discuss the trip as well on the dinner table.

Day 2

Half-day sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley

After breakfast, we will embark on a half-day sightseeing tour. We will visit places like Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, and many more. We will visit UNESCO World Heritage sites like Patan Durbar Square and Kathmandu Durbar Square as well. We will enjoy lunch on the excursion. After that, we will head back to the hotel and ready for our Kailash yatra. We will have a brief discussion, establish a mentality, and then rest for the night.

Drive from Kathmandu to Kerung

Early After breakfast, we'll go to Kerung, a small town in the Tibet Autonomous Region. The drive will take 7/9 hours, depending on the road conditions and border formalities. On the route, we will experience panoramic views of Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal, adding to the magnificence of the journey. We will drive through Syabrubesi, the gateway to the Langtang Trek. The entire route runs through rivers, lush forests, terraced farmland, and high mountain slopes. After arriving in Kerung, we will check into our hotel, relax, and then go for a brief walk around town to see the cultural beauty of the locals.

Exploration day at Kerung

Kerung is a smal Tibetan town located within the Tibet Autonomous Region. It is located close the Nepal border. We will visit Kerung village to see the rich cultural history, tranquil scenery, and high-altitude Tibetan lifestyle; spending a day in Kerung might be a unique and memorable experience. We will also visit Gyirong Valley, widely known as the Village of Happiness. The town is surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the Langtang and Himalayan peaks. We will tour nearby Buddhist monasteries and learn about their cultural significance. We will visit the local market and immerse ourselves in Tibetan culture and traditions. We will also visit the natural hot springs in town to take advantage of their medicinal benefits.

Early morning drive to Saga from Kerung

Early in the morning, we'll drive to Saga, a little attractive village in Tibet's Shigatse province. The distance between Saga and Kerung is around 200 kilometers, which is a lovely trip along mountain routes with breathtaking mountain ranges in the background. Along the route, you will see the varied landscapes of the Tibetan plateau. We shall cross the Yarlung Tsangpo River, often known as the Brahmaputra in India. We'll also stop at Salt Lake City along the route. When you arrive in Saga, check into your lodge or tea house and unwind. Be refreshed, and then we'll go for a hike in the local area. The saga town is also renowned as the access point to Kailash Mansarovar Lake and Mount Kailash.

Drive from Saga to Lake Manasarovar

Trek from Darchen to Yamadwar and on to Derapuk

The journey from Darchen to Yamadwar and then to Derapuk is one of the most exciting aspects of the Mount Kailash pilgrimage. Starting at Darchen, the route takes you through scenic landscapes and eventually ascends to the sacred Yamadwar, also known as the "gateway to Kailash." When we reach the summit of Dolma La, we are met with panoramic views of the Tibetan plateau and the distant, sacred Mount Kailash. The descent from the pass is similarly difficult since we must cross rough pathways and deep valleys. Along the journey, we pass by the tranquil Gauri Kund, a sacred lake where pilgrims frequently pause to meditate and pray. From here, we continue our journey to Zutul Phuk, which is located in a quiet valley and provides a sense of calm and accomplishment. Along the trip, we may come across local herders guiding their yaks, giving a touch of genuine Tibetan culture to the journey.
