Upper Mustang Trek is a historical remote Mustang trek once unsealed as the Forbidden Kingdom of Mustang, idealized away from the rest of the world. It lies north of the main Himalayan range of Nepal. Mustang, a mystical land with unique natural charisma, raised its grace.
We all know that the walled city of Lo Manthang, the unofficial capital of Mustang, still manages to remain a kingdom within a kingdom. The early history of Lo Manthang is truly a myth and legend rather than a recorded fact. Mustang maintained its status as a separate principality until 1951. The king of Lo Manthang still retains his title, and he has been given the honorary rank of Colonel in the Nepal army.
The actual Trekking in Mustang was officially opened in 1992. Since it is highly gifted with natural elements, the government allows limited numbers of trekkers each year to protect and conserve the local Tibetan tradition and the fragile environment. A trek into this fabled forbidden kingdom of vast, arid valleys, eroded canyons, ochre valley, yak caravans, and colorful-painted mud brick houses on the back dropped off the majestic mountain of Nilgiri, Tukche, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri makes Mustang trekking more fruitful and worthy.
Upper Mustang is a restricted area, and until 1992, foreign visitors were forbidden to enter the kingdom. Nowadays, foreigners are allowed, but to enter Upper Mustang, they have to buy a permit of US$500. Commence this fascinating trek to enjoy Nepal's natural and cultural beauty.
When the weather is at its best and offers the best trekking experience, spring and fall are the ideal seasons to begin the Upper Mustang trip. The area comes alive with vivid blooms and gentle warmth from March to May in the summer, providing pleasant days for exploration. The horizon and stunning vistas of the neighboring mountains appear. These seasons' days are typically dry, making moving through the higher mustangs' dry patches easier. It can be difficult because there is a chance of considerable rainfall during the rainy season (June to August), which makes the routes slick and unfit for hiking. Similarly, hiking is challenging during the chilly winter months of December through February due to heated weather and snow-covered roadways. When hiking, travelers may enjoy Upper Mustang's cultural and natural treasures in the most tranquil and stunning environments in the spring or fall.
We will assist you from Tribhuvan International Airport to the hotel upon your arrival. After checking in at the hotel, you can rest for some time, and if you want to visit the local places, you can do so. In the evening, we will have a welcome dinner and briefly tell you about the trek in detail, allowing you to be a guide and porter.
Rest overnight.
