Overview
World Peace stupa hiking is short one day hiking designed to start from Pokhara. You will hike for 2 to 3 hours depending upon your pace. Situated at Ananda Hill, Peace Stupa was built by Nipponzan-Myohaj. Shanti literally means Peace in Nepal thus names ‘Santi Stupa’ in Nepalese language . Out of 80 world peace pagodas in the world, two of them are in Nepal, one being the World Peace Stupa in Pokhara.
Hiking to world peace pagoda Pokhara not only offers the wide panoramic mountain view of Annapurna, Dhawalagiri and Mt. Fishtail but also provides top view of Fewa Lake and Pokhara City. This is also the spiritual spot offering you the place to do bit of meditation and calm yourself while enjoying the natural setting. The white pagoda has two tiers ; second tier displaying the four status of Buddha representing the wheels of life, dharma and teachings of Buddha. The pagoda’s architecture itself and white color it has blends in the tranquility and serenity of the nature.
World Peace Pagoda has been ranked top five must go places in Pokhara in Trip-advisors for the last few years. The hilltop is best famous for its sunset view as Sarangkot for its sunrise. The routes to get to World Peace Stupa are hiking or taxi/bike transportation from lakeside. From the the spot boat drops you off in Fewa Lake is the most common and famous hike route while hiking from Dam side is also an option. Some travelers chose the later for the route not being steep though it takes a bit longer than the former. While on taxi/bike, it shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes to reach there continued with 10 minutes walk to World Peace Pagoda.

The time given here is to help you make
an ideal estimation of the trip. We can start the trip at the timing you are
comfortable with.
12 Noon: Our guide meets you at your hotel to
pick you up. If you are around Lakeside, we can take a walk to take a boat to
the other end of the Lake. If you are not near to the lakeside, the guide will
explain the route and give the brief overview of the hike trip while in the
taxi to Lakeside.
12.30pm: Boating for 30
minutes to reach to the other end and start off point for Hiking.
1pm: Hike to World Peace Pagoda.
The trail has many ups and downs but the wide use of route by tourists makes it
familiar. The road can get slippery and muddy in the monsoon. The trail is
steep uphill through the forest.
2.15 pm: Enjoy the serenity in World Peace Pagoda and its periphery.
2.45pm: You can either choose
to take a car or hike back (depending how tiring it gets for you) to Pokhara
Lake Side through Tibetan Monastery.
