Muktinath Darshan Yatra Tour takes you to the sacred place of both Hindus and Buddhists located in the heart of Muktinath valley at an altitude of 3,710m. Hindu recognizes this place as “Mukti Kshetra” which literally means “The Place of Salvation”.  The temple is worshipped as 105th among the available 108 Divya Desam and highly venerated by Sri Vaishnava sect. In addition, it is one of the 51 Shakti Pitha Goddess sites.

Muktinath Temple protects a human-sized golden statue of Vishnu as Shri Mukti Narayan. In addition to Mukti Narayan, the temple also houses bronze images of Bhoodevi (the Earth –goddes form of Lakshmi), the goddesses Saraswati and Janaki (Sita), Garuda (the mount of Vishnu), Lava-Kusa (the sons of Rama and Sita and the Sapta Rishi (Seven sages formed with the blessing of Lord Varma).

There are 108 water spouts placed in a semi-circular shape at a height of seven feet behind the temple. The freezing water of Kali Gandaki River has been diverted to water spots and very few pilgrims can stand the ice-cold water of spout. It is believed that bathing 108 water spout cleanses all the sin attained in lifetime.

Buddhist knows Mutinath as Chumming Gyatsa which in Tibetan dialects means “Hundred Water”. It is the place of Dakinis goddesses, also known as Sky Dancers and worshipped as one of the 24 celebrated Tantric places. Legend has it that Guru Rimpoche, Padmasambhava (the founder of Tibetan Buddhism) medicated in Mukinath on his way to Tibet.

After Muktinath Temple tour, pilgrims visit Mebar Lha Gompa, the small monastery knowns for its “miraculous fire”. It is located at the entrance gate of the temple. This monastery, with the statue of Buddhist lord Chenrezing (Avalokitesvara), is famous for its ever burning natural gas fire, which Hindu praised as Jawal Mai, the Goddess of Fire.

Muktinath is equally worshiped by Buddhist and Hindus. All Buddhist pilgrimages places in Nepal which are equally worshiped by both religions.
