Useful Information for Nepal Travel Trekking

Group Size:

We are very flexible on the number of travelers. You may choose to go on a trip on our fixed departure time or plan your own private trip with the minimum group size being 2 or at max 10. We can also organize trips for larger groups upon request. Solo travelers are also welcomed. You may also choose to join our group tour available on the online market, or inform us to create one.

Trekking Season:

It is hard to determine the best trekking time as different people have different expectations and preferences. But generally speaking, the two distinct trekking seasons would be Spring (Feb – May) and Autumn (September – December).

Spring (Feb – May)

With winter has just come to an end, the air fresh, the sky clear and the mountain tips covered by snow, Spring is a good choice for trekking. For hills above 3,500m, they would be all covered by snow as well. There may be short showers, yet most days are warm and sunny.

Autumn Sep-Dec

After the monsoon and before the cold sets in, this period is perfect to trek if you are looking for the panoramic view of the mountains. The sky is cloudless with lush plants shimmering under the gentle sunshine. Although the snow is less than that of the Spring season, it is the best time for the crystal clear view. The temperature is perfect as well – not scorching hot during the day and durably cool at night.

In October and November, the big colorful Mani Rimdu festival is celebrated in the mountain region. Participating in it would definitely add colors to your trip.

Meals:

Full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner with tea or coffee) will be provided throughout the trek. Breakfast and dinner will be provided at a teahouse while lunch will be en route. Besides authentic Nepalese cuisine, you may also choose food of other styles. Most of the tea houses offer rice, noodles, soup and seasonal vegetables. As for breakfast, cereals, bread and eggs are generally available. During the stay in Kathmandu and Pokhara, only breakfast is provided as suggested in the itinerary.

Accommodation:

During your stay in the city, we will provide a star rated accommodation. All the rooms will have attached washrooms, A/C and 24-hour hot water. During the trek, your accommodation includes Mt. Lodge and other local tea houses. We do our best to offer the best available lodges, but some tea houses only have shared washing and toilet facilities. Also, all accommodation is on a twin-sharing basis. If you prefer a single room in the city or during the trek, you may indicate your preference on request and pay for the single supplement cost. Meanwhile, if there are any other special requests for accommodation, please contact us prior to the trip.

Health and Fitness:

The physical challenge of trekking shall not be underestimated. Your body needs time to get prepared for the journey ahead. Before the trek, it is advised to have some physical training that suits the level of difficulty for your trek. Do some cardiovascular training like swimming, running and cycling to prepare your body to face the oxygen-deprived situation at high altitudes, go onto some small trekking to get adapted to the ascent and descent of the real trek and build muscle strength to for longer trek endurance.

With thinner air at higher altitudes, altitude sickness or acute mountain syndrome can occur, resulting in headaches, shortness of breath or even death. During the trek, walk at a slow and steady pace and always remember to drink water. Also, it is the best to take preventive medication with you.

Before the trek, we strongly recommend you to consult your doctor and have your body fully examined. It would be the best to inform us your health situation beforehand so that your health and needs can be better taken care of.

Travel Insurance:

In order to get fully covered during your trip, you need a specialized travel insurance that covers risk-involved activities.

Your travel insurance must cover emergency evacuation, trip injury, lost baggage, medical treatment and expenses and loss due to robbery or theft. Please also make sure your insurance covers all activities involved during your stay in Nepal, including trekking and climbing.

Please note that such insurance is not covered in your itinerary. You may contact us for further assistance in choosing the travel insurance.

Nepal Visa:

You can get a visa from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on your arrival or from any Entry/Exit Points in Nepal. The procedure is quick and simple.

But if you wish to skip the queues, you can consider getting a visa from Nepalese Diplomatic Missions stationed in your country prior to your arrival. It is only valid within six months from the visa issued date.

Nationals of designated countries are requested to obtain a visa before coming to Nepal. Please check your eligibility on the official website.

The On Arrival Visa Fee is a follows:

DurationCharge in USD
15 Days25 USD
30 Days40USD
90 Days100 USD

In certain conditions, the visa is issued free. Again, please refer to the official website for further details.

Guide and Porter:

We fully understand that a successful trekking trip depends highly on guides and porters. In order to have the trek smoothly commenced, we select all team members deliberately with high standards. All staffs from our side are trained and trustworthy professionals. We employ only licensed guides with adequate and sufficient knowledge of the route, biodiversity and geographical, cultural and historical information of the place. There will not be a language barrier as our guides have all received English language training classes. They are honest, talkative and always ready to cater your needs.

We concern porter rights as much as you do. All porters are fully equipped and covered by insurance for every single trip. Their health and safety concern during the trek would not be neglected. Meanwhile, we are working closely with the International Porter Progress Association to fight for more welfare for porters.

For the sake of our porters, we regulate the maximum load of each porter to 20KG. Therefore, please make sure that your trekking bag is under 20KG.

Environmental Concern:

The natural beauty of Nepal is god-gifted but we shall not take it for granted. We believe that everyone carries a responsibility to protect the environment so that our future generation can also enjoy this scenic haven as much as we now do. Therefore, we encourage all travelers to minimize the carbon footprint we brought during trekking. It can only be done if travelers work hand in hand with the agency. There are certain environmental protection guidelines we hope people who travel with us. You will get further information regarding this matter once you have made the decision to join us.
