Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, is the gateway to Nepal’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. It is home to ancient temples, vibrant markets, and several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Patan Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. Each site offers a glimpse into Nepal’s deep-rooted traditions, art, and spiritual practices.
Kathmandu city is the only entry point for international travelers by flight, as there is only one operational international airport in Kathmandu. There are two other international airports in Nepal, i.e., Pokhara and Bhairahawa, but they are not fully operational.
Kathmandu is also known as the city of Newa culture. You can see the Newa traditions, culture, and lifestyle in each step. Newa people celebrate various kinds of festivals, including Dashain, Tihar, Indra Jatra, Gai Jatra, and Ghode Jatra. If your tour belongs to any of these festivals, then you can explore more about them.
The city’s bustling streets, traditional architecture, and historic sites reflect the diversity and harmony of Hindu and Buddhist cultures. Visitors often begin their journey here, with opportunities to explore both well-known landmarks and local neighborhoods like Thamel.
Pokhara is a peaceful lakeside city surrounded by views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre mountain ranges. It’s a popular destination for both relaxation and adventure, offering activities such as paragliding, boating, hot air balloons, bungee jumping, zip flyers, short treks, and many more adventure activities. So, Pokhara is also known as the touristic city of Nepal.
There are nine lakes in Pokhara Valley. So sometimes people called it the city of lakes too. Phewa Lake is a central attraction, where visitors can enjoy a serene boat ride with reflections of the Himalayas in the water. Other highlights include Davis Fall, Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, Pumdikot, and the World Peace Pagoda. Pokhara also has a lively nightlife scene with restaurants and music venues that stay open into the evening.
Located in southern Nepal, Lumbini is one of the most sacred places in the Buddhist world. It is the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautam, who later became the Buddha. The peaceful environment and spiritual atmosphere attract visitors from around the globe.
Key sites in Lumbini include the Maya Devi Temple, the Ashokan Pillar, and various international monasteries. The area is ideal for meditation, quiet reflection, and learning about the life and teachings of Buddha.
Autumn is one of the best times to explore Nepal. The weather is pleasant with clear skies, fresh air, and stunning mountain views. Dashain is celebrated with family blessings and traditional rituals, while Tihar is known as the festival of lights and strengthens bonds between siblings. The post-monsoon landscape is green and vibrant, making it a perfect time for sightseeing and cultural experiences in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Lumbini.
