Overview And Highlights

Champadevi Hiking is an hour's drive followed by a 3-4 hour hike (a day hike) to the religious Champadevi Shrine and the nearest hill station offering panoramic mountain views of Langtang, Gaurishankar, and Jugal range. The trail covers historical important sites such as Pharping, a wide Newari and Tibetan inhabitant community.

Hiking to Champadevi goes through Kirtipur and Chobhar to start the hike at Pharping. Kirtipur (Kirti: glory; Pur: City), the city of glory is the ancient prime spot for Newari culture at 5 kilometers distance where we can drop by to have breakfast or snacks later. Chobhar itself is famous for Manjushree Park. According to mythology, Manjushree cut open the mountain to drain the water from Kathmandu Valley as he saw the lotus rising light from the center of the lake.

From Pharping, Champadevi Temple is a 3-4 hour mild hike through dense pine forest and the local Newari community. On reaching the top, you’ll see the Hindu and Buddhist shrines on the top of the hill. Champa Devi hiking trail is widely famous among those who have limited time in Kathmandu or looking for a pleasured hike with friends, family, and kids.

Our 1 day Champadevi day tour or hike starts from Pharphing. A small village located in the southern part of Kathmandu Valley. To reach Pharping, we arrange a private car service and assist your hike with an experienced local guide. At option, the bus can be taken from Ratnapark Bus Park to Pharping, and takes an hour for 20 kilometers journey. This route is also famous for cycling but the air pollution, traffic, and unfriendly road network make it complicated at times.

Highlights of the Trip:

  • Champadevi Altitute: 2278m,
  • Panoramic Mountain View of Langtang, Gaurishankar, Jugal Range
  • Historical and culturally important sites Kirtipur, Chobhar, Pharping
  • Hindu Shrines of Champadevi and Buddhist Monastery at Hill Top
