Jagat is a small village located in the Gorkha district of Nepal. Jagat is the gateway to the Manaslu region treks and Mount Manaslu itself. Don’t get confused with Jagat, which is located in the Manang district and is the gateway to treks like the Annapurna circuit trek, the Tilicho lake trek, the North Annapurna base camp trek, and many more. Both villages are different, and the distance between them is more than 150 km, as Jagat, which is in the Gorkha district, is reached by driving to Arughat, Soti Khola, Macha Khola, and Jagat.
However, the Jagat village inside the Manang district is reached from Dumre, Besi Sahar, and Jagat. However, if you complete the Manaslu circuit trek, you can visit both villages, as you will start from Jagat in the Gorkha district end in Dharapani, and drive from Dharapani and Jagat to Kathmandu.

Jagat village is located at an altitude of 1,380 meters, which is the same as the level of the Kathmandu Valley. Jagat village is the gateway to Mount Manaslu and the Manaslu Conservation Area. Jagat village is located on the riverbank of the Budhi Gandaki River, which comes from the melting glaciers of the Mansiri Himalayan ranges.
The Jagat village is home to the Gurung and Tamang people, who are mainly Buddhists, due to which you can see that the village is covered with Tibetan prayer flags fluttering above the sky, monasteries, and chortens in the village. The people in this region speak the Gurung and Ghale languages, and they often know English as well. The village is culturally rich, as you will see the stone houses and the beautiful peaceful villages covered with lush green mountains from all sides along the Budhi Gandaki River. You will see local foods like Thakali khana, momo, chow mein, thukpa, and other dishes. The people here are culturally rich, due to which you will see many kinds of festivals and the rodi singing-dancing gatherings.
The surroundings of Jagat village are covered with steep gorges and lush green rhododendrons, Oak, pine, and bamboo forests. You will witness the dramatic landscapes of the Budhi Gandaki River as water from the mountains makes the waterfalls, and it gets mixed in the river, due to which the village produces soothing sounds to the ears.
Accommodations in the Jagat village are quite luxurious compared to the higher elevation villages like Samagaun and Samdo. Here you will get tea houses and guest houses to stay in. In the village, you will get basic facilities like electricity and wifi, and you will not need to pay extra. You can have your solo room with attached bathrooms, and the facilities are luxurious, like in the city, but you will stay in the guest houses.
Reaching Jagat village from Kathmandu is easy; you can rent a vehicle like a Scorpio or jeep and drive to Jagat from Kathmandu. The distance between Jagat and Kathmandu is 150 km via the Dhading, Arughat, Soti Khola, and Macha Khola. If you want to travel by local bus, you can do that as well. You can go to the Gongabu bus park and take a bus or jeep from the bus park to Jagat and then drive via the bumpy roads. If you don’t want to travel to Jagat by driving, then you have another luxury option of flying from Kathmandu to Jagat by helicopter as well.
You can reach Jagat village from Pokhara by renting a vehicle like a Scorpio or Jeep, as it is not suggested to get a taxi or car to reach Jagat, as you will enter the Arughat, and the roads are bumpy, making your drive uncomfortable. You can rent a vehicle and reach Arughat from Pokhara and drive to Soti Khola, Macha Khola, and then Jagat. You can also take a bus from Pokhara to Arughat from Prithvi Chowk, and from Arughat you can take another public transport from Arughat to Jagat and reach there.
Yes, you will need permits to reach Jaagat village, as the village lies in the Gorkha district, inside the conservation area and it is the gateway to the Mount Manaslu, Manaslu circuit Trek, Tsum Valley and other treks, making it a compuslory permit required place. However, if you are just reaching Jagat and don't want to continue the trek in that case permit can be exempted.
